Nautique Boats: what to know

Nautique are built in Orlando by Correct Craft, who have been at it since 1925. The Ski Nautique is the boat competitive slalom skiing is run behind, and the G series is their surf boat. They are at the top of the tow boat market and priced there.

What to check before you buy

  • Decide first whether you want the ski boat or the surf boat. They are opposite designs and a G will not ski like a Ski Nautique.
  • Hours and service history, as with any tow boat. Ballast pumps are the usual failure.
  • They hold value as well as anything on the water, so a cheap one is worth asking hard questions about.
  • Check the tower and the pylon mountings, which take the whole load of the pull.

Common questions

What is the difference between a Ski Nautique and a G series?
Opposite jobs. The Ski Nautique is a direct drive built to make the smallest, flattest wake it can for slalom skiing. The G is a surf boat built to make the biggest, cleanest wave it can.
Why are Nautiques so expensive?
Build quality, the surf and ski systems, and demand from people who compete. They also depreciate slowly, so the running cost of owning one is closer to the rest of the market than the sticker suggests.
Is a Nautique a good family boat?
A G series is roomy and does everything a family wants. A Ski Nautique is narrow with a small cockpit and no bow seating: wonderful behind a slalom course, cramped for a day out with six people.
